another weekend in IMU...
not going back this weekend..
so, as usual.. met up with my friends in the library to study..
let's see... Hazel, WenYi, Alice, JiaRu.. and me... we were the only ones who turned up.. YahLee is "busy".. because her "housemates" are moving in...
anyway, our 1st class test -- Principles of Human Nutrition is just around the corner.. on friday..
that's why.. we were extra "hardworking"...
poor Hazel, she went home early, because she had a headache.. i hope she's feeling well..

looking forward for WeiJie's dessert.. the 糖水that he said he'd prepare...
guys in N&D are really talented in cooking... 1st it's ChonXiang.. now WeiJie.. i wonder if there's any other hidden talents...
well.. turns out that WeiJie was in Putrajaya, watching his school's choir perform, in a patriotic songs choir competition..
so, the dessert's gotta wait till evening..

then, WeiJie called and said that he'd probably won't be able to make it back in time.. *disappointment*
but he'll prepare it on sunday anyway.. *faces lightens up*
sitting at the library, with all the Nutrition books piled up in front of us..
we had another of our brilliant ideas again...
why don't we cook dinner ourselves... again....
now u know why we all chose N&D..

anyway, dinner yesterday totally wiped out all my storage of veggies and stuff..
so, we made an lightning trip to Carrefour...
and bought "ingredients" of the dishes that we'll like to cook...
headed back to my apartment.. and the chefs -- Me + Alice + WenYi & JiaRu.. got to work...

and here's the result...

we even invited WeiJie to join us for dinner..
so.. the 5 of us.. ate dinner and watched the SUMMER CONCERT 08 by 8TV.. at my place..
can't say i'm impressed by the concert this year..
let's just say it's just.. "so-so"

it's friday again~
woke up and went for breakfast in ALISON, Sri Petaling as usual..
it has become our weekly routine...
Alice + Me + WenYi + XingYing + Hazel + YahLee..
we went in XinYing's car..

later, we hung out in the library..
revising and doing the presentation for Moral Studies..
as usual.. we have only a 1 hour lecture today.. and it's 2.45-3.45pm.. zzzz...
plenty of time till then..
plus.. we're looking forward to our IKEA trip..
have been planning on it since 2 weeks ago..
so.. images of delicious.. tempting food filled my mind..

well.. apart from that.. i do feel a bit down..
LiangHin.. one from our gang.. he's leaving for Taiwan to further his studies in Life Sciences..
i know it's his dream to study in Taiwan.. and it's his choice.. so.. i guess we can only wish him well...

after Professionalism in Nutrition & Dietetics..
we got to the atrium.. to our dismay.. it was raining.. pouring.. to be exact..
or "raining cats & dogs" as some would call it...
the wind was blowing furiously.. and the rain came down in torrents..
stranded in IMU.. our spirits dampened..
there goes our IKEA trip..
we got news that there was this HUGE traffic jam where we're headed..
so... we went to the cafeteria.. waiting for the rain to stop..

sat in the cafeteria..
some munching on their waffles..
us licking our ice-creams (yes.. ice-cream on a rainy day)
we started coming up with other possible "destinations"
Neway.. Steven's Corner.. Sri Petaling.. OUG..
we finally decided on either Stevens's corner or somewhere in OUG..
wanted to go to Neway... been craving to go sing K for few weeks..
but, most of us was already tired and just wanted to go get a bite and come back to Vista as soon as possible..

escaped from IMU.. as the heavy rain subdued to a slight drizzle..
CheeCheng and XinYing went to get their cars from the IMU open car park..
while, me + WenYi + Alice.. went to Vista C, where Alice's car was parked..
everything was fine.. when suddenly..
"BANG!!" Alice's Waja hit a Silver Kancil, WHU1458, at the entrance of Vista C.. at the guard house..
we must have missed the Kancil.. because it was still raining.. and there was another car coming into the Vista C from the other direction..
anyway.. the Kancil driver.. a big Malay guy.. got off his vehicle and began screaming insults..
he was really unpleasant.. we apologized and said that we were willing to pay for the damage done to his car..
but he was like.. seriously mistrust us... he even wanted Alice's I/C and hand phone..
as if we would run away.. hey~ we're future health care staff.. and we're IMU students.. stay in Vista C some more.. wanna run away also cannot lar!

CheeCheng and the others got there.. and even Eugene.. who happened to look out of his apartment and saw what happened..
the Malay guy was still unfriendly..
but agreed to go to the work shop with us in Sri Petaling to see how much it costs to fix the damage..

CheeCheng's MyVi took the wrong turn at the first junction and they couldn't catch up with us..
then, at Sri Petaling, the 1st work shop we went to said they didn't offer this service..
the Malay guy then headed for his friend's work shop..
XinYing's car got left behind at the traffic lights..
and it was just us three girls left..

at the workshop.. the lady there said it was about RM600-RM700!!
hey.. it's just a Kancil door.. how much would it need??
the Malay guy kept threatening that he'd call his "abang" to come "bincang" with us if we wouldn't pay..
we wanted to just make a police report and let the other party claim insurance..
but he wouldn't accept the offer.. goodness knows why..
we were really in a tight spot.. we weren't familar with the area.. and the people wouldn't let us make police report..
the Malay guy kept saying that it was incovenient for his "mother" who drives the car to work..
and there was phone calls coming in that said wanna beat us up or something if we wouldn't pay!!
we ended up having to pay RM500..
but i came up with a simple agreement stating that the accident was already settled.. and no further liability would be taken...
and made the Malay guy sign it..
RM500 was overpriced.. it was obvious...
but at that situation.. we just had to give in..
we had to get away from that place to where we're familar with..
who knows what these people will do if we wouldn't give in..

was in a bad mood when we finally got back to Vista C..
gloomy.. what a bad day...
walked to Vista B to meet up with Hazel and YahLee..
and walked over to the basketball/volleyball court to checkout the IMU cup event going on there..
it was volleyball.. well, didn't see anyone familar... so we walked back towards Vista..

we're still hungry.. our dinner plans was ruined..
so, we suddenly had an idea..
to cook at my place.. and have dinner there..
spirits lifting.. just a little..
we packed some rice at the stalls in front of Vista B..
and headed to my apartment in Vista C1..

it was lucky that we went to Pasar Malam in OUG the day before..
and i've bought some veggies there..
started preparing the ingredients and cooking the dishes..
got more and more cheery.. *winks*
got a simple 3 dish dinner ready..
and the three of us.. Alice + WenYi + Me.. sat down to dinner..
hey.. it was actually not bad~~
sat there chatting.. topics covering just about everything...
joking.. laughing hysterically...
so they say "laughter's the best medicine"..
our bad moods got thrown right out of the window in no time~

as they we started cleaning up..
they suddenly remembered... they wanted to copy songs and drama series from me..
so, we gathered in my room, in front of my laptop..
singing and chatting while waiting for the files being copied into their pendrives..
rumaged inmy desk drawers and my collection of nail polish and stuff caught our eyes..
came up with this crazy idea to start decorating our nails..
and we did..
this is definitely one of the best thing of being a girl..
we get to bond while gossiping and doing girls stuff.. (too bad guys...)
we decided on white.. quite a rare shade of nail polish.. but.. it actually turned out quite nice~~

guess what, when we finally did finish doing our nails.. it was past midnight..
Alice + Me.. we walked with WenYi back to her apartment in Vista B1..
and went back to our respective apartments in C1.. (it was alreay 1.00am++)
feeling positively happy + cheery.. despite all the bad and unhappy stuff that happened today...


dinner... all ready for us to dig in... satisfactory of self-prepared dinner..

someone mentioned in his blog.. that today was a special day...
20.08.2008... it's 20082008...
let's see how my day went....

9.00am
got into Multi Disciplinary Lab 4 just in time for the General Chemistry Practical 3..
joined my fellow bench-mates: HongHui, ShiauShiang, SooWei and JiaHuan at our bench -- Bench 5~
did an experiment to determine sodium carbonate & sodium bicarbonate in a solution containing both..
me and JiaHuan did the Part I first..
while, the others did the Part II..

we finished it quite fast.. despite doing an extra titration, since we had so much solution left(shhh.. don't tell the lab assistants).
and, since the others weren't finished with the Part II, me and JiaHuan started playing around, and helped the others prepare the apparatus and stuff for the Part I.
we kept on talking in Chinese, which irritates the Indian lab assistant, who kept on going "why aren't u speaking English?", "what is all this Chinese?"...
hehehehe.. i'll bet she's dying to know what we're talking and laughing about, she's been eavesdropping and couldn't understand a word..wakakaka....
anyway, there was plenty of time, and we fooled around, camwhoring, when the lab assistants weren't looking of course..

when it was our turn to use the magnectic stirrer for the Part II titration, there was only like.. 1/2 hour left!! omg...
the lab assistant had a sinister look on the face when she reminded us, "u have only 1/2 hour left.. fast.. fast.."
anyway, i still think she's really cute...
very "expert-like" JiaHuan and i managed to finish the titration!! yay~~
don't ask us how.. but we managed it anyway..



12.00pm
exit the MDL4, and went to the atrium..
it was lunch hour, however, we stopped by at the Clinique Roadshow Booth, that was set up in the atrium.
got some free samples..
had lunch at the cafeteria..
went to class at MPH5..



1.30pm
seated in the MPH5 for Dr. Tony's lecture on Dietary Lipids..



4.00pm
went for the Clinique Workshop thingy at the Lecture Theatre 2..
regretting it after 15mins..
slipped out at 5.00pm..



5.00pm
stepped into the library, in search of my fellow practical bench-mates..
we had to plot the titration graphs, which had to be handed in with our practical reports the next day by 12pm.
found them in the E-Learning Lab..
worked hard.. key-ing in the data.. modifying it.. till we finally got a nice looking curve~



7.00pm
walked home, in an exhausted + hungry state..



basically, it wasn't really an interesting day for me..
but, i guess there were some memorable moments in between~

weekends here in IMU are really getting into me..
it's truly intolerable..
it's sooooo quiet..
makes me miss home again...

went to library yesterday, stayed there from 11.00am till 8.00pm..
can't say i revised a lot, but at least i read through most of my Principles of Human Nutrition, and i actually grasped most of the concepts now~ *jumping for joy*
didn't really achieve my target though, i was planning to go through my Organic Chemistry notes too, but i guess i got side tracked now and then, and didn't get to look through the Organic Chemistry notes.. will go to them right after this..

the little cafe in the library served it's purpose,
providing us with coffee and pastries~~
and emptying our wallets... *sad*
the scent of roasted coffee beans and delicious pastries drew the students(ok.. us..) to them...
hehehe.. who can resist a freshly brewed cup of cappucino after reading through tons of facts, and being confused by all these concepts that we have to understand?
okay.. i may be exaggerating a bit... well, let's just say everyone needs a break now and then.. ;)

studying together is really much better.. than having to endure the loneliness of studying alone..
at least when my minds starts wandering away from the notes in front of me, i look up, see everyone else focusing on their notes, i focus on my notes once again~~

went to OUG for dinner after a long day's revising and gossiping in between..
wakakaka... it was satisfactory, the at the sight of the hawker stalls by the roadside, we knew at once, this is it! our dinner!
there was everything.. okay.. maybe not everything..
but, it's the typical chinese hawker centre..
omg.. how i missed all these chinese food!!!

we ordered quite a lot of food, to be honest, and shared among the 6 of us..
let's see, we have: tomyam, satay, popiah, fried kuay teow, 蚝煎, ice kacang~~
wakakaka.. what would our prof say if she sees us eating all these non-nutritional stuff..
what we ordered was definitely against RNI and Dietary Guidelines...
well, we have to reward ourselves for "studying hard" for a whole day right?
so, i guess all these RNI and guidelines momentarily "slipped" from our minds~~
ssshhhhh... don't tell our profs....

hmm.. it's another boring sunday, and i'm home alone..
how i miss having my housemates around..
the house feels quiet and empty without u guys..
i guess i'll just get back to my Organic Chemistry notes...


a sandwich.. a nutritional snack but yet.. quite costly for us...

went for lunch in OUG after practicals today..
everyone seems to be in a great mood, maybe it's because titrations today went quite smoothly~~ yippee~~ finished early and got to leave the lab early..
about 20 of us, in 4 cars, went happily + noisily to this place called -- WONG KOK Char Chan Teng, in OUG..
hehehe.. we kinda took over the place, i mean, the place was filled with our noisy chattering and laughter in no time~
felt sorry for the attendants, they had to like move everything around now and then, because we actually took quite some time, deciding how we wanted to be seated and changing our minds a few times..
the food there was okay.. it's a Hong Kong style place, and there're a lot of interesting food on the menu..
a bit lazy to describe what else we did there.. which is mainly just chatting(loudly), eating(a lot!), laughing(without control)...
so.. i guess i'll let the pictures tell the story~~

hmm.. i wonder if there's any way to find a balance between work and play?
i mean.. is it possible to play around.. but at the same time, not neglecting your academics??

yipee~~ after 3 weeks in IMU...
after 3 1/2 hours on the bus...
i'm home~~~~~~~~~~~

3 weeks... truly glad to be home right now..
where i can wake up in my own bed..
reach for my baby--my guitar when i feel like it..
take a drive in my Kancil around the town when i'm bored...
oh ya.. the most important thing is.. i get to spend time with my lovely lovely family...

i was just in time to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics Games, Beijing 2008..
it was really an impressive + grand + significant ceremony..
omg.. the performances.. the design.. the whole ceremony..
i was truly speechless..
too bad we can only watch the "siaran langsung" from the TV..
wow.. imagine being in the stadium and witnessing the real ceremony...
hahahahaha... another one of my day dreams..
what really caught my eye was the last part of it..
when the final torch was being lighted..
it was really creative.. and really meaningful..
that guy, he ran in mid air(of course, with supporting cables and stuff), all around the stadium..
with every step he took, images of the torch's journey was being displayed...
the moment when the torch was lighted was truly breathtaking..
oh... how i wished i was in Beijing, at the stadium, witnessing all these with my very own eyes...

anyway, had breakfast with my whole family this morning..
something i have been missing a lot...
hadn't been able to do so since like.. ever since my brother went to Matrikulasi..
it was really lucky that we were be able to be home at the same time..
went for dim sum.. hahaha.. we actually spent more time laughing + joking than enjoying the food.. ;P

hmmm... i wonder if i'd be able to make myself leave home again on monday..
sometimes i really feel like never leaving home again..
but i guess i'd have to...
leaving home again would be hard for me..
but i'll deal with it..
and make myself tougher..
i'll always be my daddy's little girl..

went to watch the finals of the Chinese Singing Competition..
our batch mate -- Georgen Thye.. he was one of the finalist~~!
so, of course we had to go support him..
haven't heard him singing before this..
he was the last to perform during the prelims, and we didn't actually stick around till that late.. so i guess we kinda missed his performance..

we heard people commenting that he sang really good..
he sang 第三者 during the prelims..
so we were anticipating it..
and they weren't kidding...
Georgen sang really REALLY good!!!
hahaha.. i'm biased on this.. he sang my favourite female singer -- Fish Leong's song!!
he sang 接受..
wow.. the audience was like all mesmerized by his voice..
we cheered like mad for him~~
hahaha.. Georgen, u wanna form your own fan club now??

okokok.. the group performances was ok..
the "Cockroaches" was positively hilarious...
i guess they were more to giving everyone a good laugh than to winning..
but.. i salute u guys man~~ great.. truly great... and memorable!
u guys totally did it~!

yep.. been wanting to blog this few days ago...
but i was kinda busy.. with the KLWMBC going on...
hey~ going out 5 nights in a row and reaching home past 1am.. it was a miracle that i even found time to finish my practical report in time and hand it in punctually...
well, it was worth it.. the KLWMBC was really an experience..
now it's back to my model student life...
lectures, CAL sessions, lectures, practicals, lectures, field visits, lectures... (notice the repetition?)
anyway, it's time to get back on track and start concentrating on my studies again..

ookay.. got side tracked abit, went to RED BOX, Low Yat Plaza the other day, with PheiSzee and ChowKong.. it was on friday, 1 Aug i think...
anyway, we were the only available ones that day, the others got caught up in one thing or another..
so, i started off, straight after class, by LRT, and when i got off IMBI station, they were already there... walked towards Low Yat Plaza..
did a really embarassing thing... walked around LowYat, searching in vain for RED BOX..
after searching like from Ground floor to the Top floor, only we found out that it's on the Lower Ground floor.... OMG!!! zzzz....

hey.. the price rate there is not bad.. RM7, student price..
too bad for PheiSzee, without a student ID, she had to pay RM13..
anyway, had a really great time there..
with only 3 person around.. we actually had room to actually really stretch out, i mean, we could even all lie on the couch there and there's still a lot of room left.. (it's just a description, we DID NOT really lie down, okay?)
plus.. there was no need to wrestle each other for the microphones.. because, there was enough for everyone...

sang for like 2 hours++ miraculously... my sore throat cure itself? i dunno.. but it seems much better the minute i stepped into the K-box... miracle huh??
sang tons of songs.. basically i think we kinda covered all the MUST-SING songs...
and even our very own... KU MOHON and BUNGA-BUNGA CINTA.. in memory of NH Marching Band's 2003 & 2004 show..
oh ya.. towards the end.. we were like really tired out.. and started doing funny versions... OMG... it was so hilarious that i couldn't stop laughing...

i've haven't had soo much fun with u guys for a long, long time..
miss u guys... too bad we couldn't round up more from our gang..
but i was really nice hanging out with u guys again...

especially when it comes to other peoples' opinion of me.. it always bothers me a lot.. how people feel about me.. what they think of me.. if i offended them without knowing it.. blablabla...

i'm nuts when it comes to anything made of chocolate... chocolate makes me happy.. oooohh~~ the satisfatory of indulging in a nice piece of chocolate!!! well... not really a very good dietary example lah.. so.. ignore this one...

FACT6: i am constantly online~
being a student away from home.. my activity is, of course online lah.. if i go without online-ing a few days, i'll feel that something is not right.. if i've not checked mail, i'll feel that i have forgotten to do something important... aiyah.. u guys know this feeling right??

Annai Illam Charity home visit 2.8.2008

arrived at school atrium at about 7.30am..

feeling really fresh.. haven't been up that early in ages..

anyway.. met up with my coursemates in the atrium..

too bad.. we were to be divided into 2 groups this morning..

one would go to RUMAH SHALOM.. while the other.. would go to ANNAI ILLAM..

LiangHin, ChuJin, WenWei & JiaHuan went to RUMAH SHALOM..

while.. me, Hazel, Alice, WenYi, YahLee & XingYing went to Annai Illam..

before we started out.. we took a few pics.. at the atrium..

and we're off~~

ANNAI ILLAM is somewhere near Batu Caves..

it's an Indian area.. quite a peaceful place actually..

when we got there, we were met Mr. Chandran, who was the founder of Annai Illam Home..

he explain the way they run the home, the concept of Annai Illam, the situation at the home, the problems they faced etc..

ANNAI ILLAM, means Mothers' Hope in Tamil.. it's such a beautiful name..

there, they don't just give out stuff for these families in need..

instead, they help improve these families' lives, help them adapt and help them get a new life altogether..

what a great concept that is... truly touched..

they teach single mothers how to sew.. and provide sewing machines for them..

they set up food stalls for these families for them to earn a living..

they teach the children computers lessons..

they have classes and time tables for each and every children..

besides that, they have this recycling drive, collecting & selling recycled stuff to earn some money to maintain the home's costs..

most of the children at the home were not around, because there was a school day replacement for Hari Raya holiday that day..

so, Mr Chandran suggested that we went around the area, doing some survey, just to find out how these people are doing, how they're coping and if they were facing any problems etc..

so we went around the neighbourhood, with a few children as our tour guides..

we only got to talk to a few of them..

i guess we scared them, with the whole lot of people walking to their door..

then we went back to the home, and did some cleaning, re-organizing and stuff for them..

the psychology students took charge of the library..

while we re-organized the storeroom..

there, nothing is thrown out, not even a piece of paper.. which was quite a fascinating fact for me..

to them, every little bit counts..

it just shows how fortunate we are..

never do we worry about how we're going to live through the next day..

we never have to worry about getting money to buy clothes and food..

it was really a very meaningful experience for me....

i guess i just never knew how fortunate i was..

and how i never realised that i've been taking all these for granted..

i'm really glad i went....

CALORIE.. lunch spot.. 31.7.2008

got home really late last night.. from stadium merdeka..
i could barely keep myself awake for the whole day..
and i'm not an agreeable person when i don't have enough rest..
i makes me look.. sulky.. coz i'm too tired to even smile..
and it makes me very quiet.. coz i'm constantly thinking for wanting to take a nap.. wakaka..
anyway.. sorry for those who had to endure all of my Lack-of-Sleep symptoms ya...
hAzeL.. haha.. i'm feeling a lot better now.. thanks for your concern ya.. i must have looked seriously tired/exhausted right? because.. hAzeL asked me a several times whether i'm ok.. hehe.. i'm truly awake + cheery now~~
yAh lEe.. omg.. the number of times that i dozed off in during the lectures.. thank goodness u were next to me to wake me up..

1st lecture of the day was Organic Chemistry workshop..
and to my dismay.. it starts at 8.00am!!!!! i was barely awake when i rushed into the lecture hall..
i woke up late... but just in time to get there before the lecture starts... zzzz....
anyway.. there was a long break before the next lecture..
and we decided to go lunch! in Sri Petaling..
hey hey... the place we chosen really suits us~ CALORIE...
it even has a name that has a nutrition theme... wooohooo~~~

liked the place.. our gang went "siao" again.. because at first, there wasn't a lot of customers around..
and we were... well.. singing to the music played in the place..
it's like a K-session.. wakakaka.. as if we owned the place..

food there was reasonably good..
and... we had a really nice time there.. i did anyway.. despite that i'm still recovering from my exhaustion from the night before..
hey hey~~ we've even got an idea.. we should really start a club/society..
it will be mainly for N&D students of course..
and the main activity will be.. going to different places to try different food ..
we can like, have an outing each week, to a different place each time..
hmm.... i wonder if the school will permit us for organizing such a club..
hahahaha.. it's just another one of our crazy thoughts..
we could be the pioneer members of the club... like prof. Fatimah said... "founders" of the club~~!!

okok.. enough of all the crap.. i seriously need rest... will post about the KLWMBC next...
