++ Orientation Week ++ part 1..

Day 1..

Stepped into IMU with a wondering heart, so this is where i'm going to spend my next 4 years...
all the unfamiliar faces filled my vision, friendly smiles exchanged..
followed the instructions to the Auditorium, which is situated at the 4th floor..
there, i first met a few of my coursemates..
we were given welcome addresses from a few of the IMU people..
was really inspired by the professionalism and ethics that they talked about..
also, we got to know the Deans, Heads of Departments and Lecturers there...
later, we went for a campus tour around IMU, still can't really get all the directions clear, but i guess i'll get to know my way around really soon..
got to know my first few friends + coursemates in IMU for the 1st time.. Alice, XinYing, Hazel, YahLee, WenYi, John..
registered ourselves during lunch break, and OMG.. we had to take the student ID picture there and then.. i hope i looked presentable in that picture.. or i'd have to bear it for the next 4 years..
then there was this Nightingale Pledge for the Nursing students.. and i was thinking, it's so unfair.. how come we Nutrition & Dietetics students don't get a pledge or ceremony of our own? i mean, even the Pharmacy students have their own White Coat Ceremony.. so why can't we?
okay.. then there was a photography session, and i got to see my the whole lot of my coursemates finally.. there was altogether 58 of us whom they refer as "Pioneer Students" for the Nutrition & Dietetics Programme..
during refreshments, i got to talk to a few of my lecturers, Ms Lee Ching Li and Prof. Winnie Chee.. really liked them a lot, and they left a good impression in my heart, for they were really knowledgeable and humble.. the way they talked, and how they really present themselves..
collected all the materials such as timetable, module guide, handbook, lab coat and temporary ID by 3.30pm.. but alas, just when we were looking forward to going home to our comfortable beds, we were told that we had to wait till like 5.00pm for the orientation activities that the seniors have planned for us..
it was a long long wait, because the seniors were still in class and we had absolutely nothing to do but to wait in the Dewan Canselor.. but i guess it was okay, because we grabbed the chance to get to know each other a little better...
finally, after a long wait, we were divided into our respective groups..
there 14 groups altogether for the orientation activities..
i was really impressed by the orientation concept that they planned out..
the introduction video they prepared is like really cool.. and hilarious too.. altogether a very entertaining video..
the orientation concept this year is basically like this:
there's 2 tribes living in the land of IMU.. the magic practicers--Fellowship and the fearless warriors--Scavenger.. both tribe long to rule over the other.. and there was constantly war between the 2 tribes..
group 1-7 are the Fellowships.. while group 8-14 are the Scavengers..
throughout the whole week, or performance will be the battle between the 2 tribes.. and among the groups too.. to determine the best group..
each group has a few OOs.. short for Orientation Officers.. my group got some BPharm students as our OOs.. AhBeh, WengFai, XuanHan, LingWei and XiaoHui..
there's like 10+ members in my group from various courses.. Ben, Erica, Alice, Me, Rachel, Yan, Michael, HawYee, Kelly, XiaoJie, LuanMee, XinLi & KaiShin..
guess what, our group name is-- FUYOH~~!! wakaka..
was really tired out when the day ended..

Day2..

start the day's agenda with a First Aid briefing, followed by an ICT briefing..
First Aid briefing was okay, basically it's about the first aid training that all of us will have to attend later during the semester..
ICT briefing.. hmm.. everyone is like in a total blurred situation, hahaha.. the briefing left us all in a wondering state.. because what they said is like something foreign to us or what.. i guess we'll get to understand it and apply it better as time goes by..
after lunch, it was a library briefing.. fell in love with the library at once.. it was like love at first sight.. wakaka.. love it's comfortable reading corner, discussion rooms, PCs, books and the soon to be available cafe..
then, there was a Mentor Mentee meeting.. hmm.. or should i say, mentor picking session, we had to draw a senior's name from a bunch of names in a box.. i got someone named.. David Ng.. i wonder who that is.. hahaha.. a good looking + talented guy maybe?
okay.. back to the agenda.. then we went for the Tutor Tutee meeting, my Tutor is Ms. Lee Ching Li, with 9 other tutees.. got to know my fellow tutees and tutor.. my fellow tutees are: Atiqah, SuMay, Queenie, Athena, WeiJie, Georgen, SiowJie, YeeLeng, Gege and ChunFong.. i hope we'll all be able to get along together.. seriously, i hope everything goes well..
rushed home to change for the Detective Game that the seniors planned..
and regretted it as soon as the games started..
we were like all waiting at the Bukit Jalil entrance.. until like really late.. because, apparently there was a miscommunication between the guards and the organizing commitee.. and the whole thing got delayed..

anyway, our team acquired two new members, Ignatius & YunRou..
as the games started, there's 7 stations altogether, and there was 2 teams from each tribe competing at each station..
we soon realised and automatically squat down next to the drain to receive "blessings" from the seniors every time we got to a station.. the "blessings", to our disgust, consists of large amounts of flour, garlic water and chinese calligraphy ink.. poured, dumped, smeared, scattered.. on us..
the games were quite okay.. but we got really REALLY filthy and we acquired quite an amount of sticky flour in our hairs.. ink smears on our hands and legs.. garlic and mud in our clothes.. and scratches here and there.. and some injuries too.. Ben fell down on his spine.. hope he recovers well..
when i got home, my housemate went.. "Oh my god..." at the sight of the state i'm in.. and "it's as bad as i remember it.." so my guess is, it'd always been a tradition in IMU for the seniors to welcome the juniors that way...
spent like almost 1 hour in the bathroom, getting the flour out of my hair.. eww... it's like the flour is free.. the way they'd been flinging it at us.. i hate flour!!!!! it was a nightmare trying to get it all out..
didn't feel like going out after that, and skipped the group discussion that i had planned on going earlier.. sorry guys..
